Friday starts hot but Winnipeg faces a wet weekend
Southern Manitoba's heat wave continued into Friday morning but there is a big change coming for the long weekend.
The overnight in Winnipeg low was a steamy 24 C and at 6 a.m. it felt more like 35 with the humidex. That overnight temperature broke a 79-year-old record.
According to Environment Canada, until last night the warmest overnight low was 18.9 C, set in 1936. Normal temperatures for this time of year are a daytime high of 21 C and overnight low of 8 C.
CBC meteorologist John Sauder says the rain will hit the Red River Valley around 5 p.m. or 6 p.m.
It will arrive earlier in the west and reach Kenora by about 9 p.m.

- Wind southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h.

- Wind becomes light late in evening and northwest 20 km/h before morning.
- Low 18 C.
