Full suit of armour, 1967 Mercedes-Benz among items on auction in Winnipeg

A full suit of armour is just one of the items Kaye's Auction House manager Jason Kaye was surprised to see from an estate in a Winnipeg home.

"I was totally amazed at what I saw," he said. "I've never seen one in town here."

Kaye said his mouth dropped as he moved through the house, seeing things such as a lamp made of German army helmets, wooden models of horse-drawn carriages, carved wooden ships, a statue of a rooster riding a cat riding a dog riding a donkey (the Bremen town musicians from a Grimm folk tale) and a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 600 limousine with a seized motor.

"It was unbelievable," Kaye said.

Those are some of the items Winnipeggers will be able to bid on Thursday.

No minimum bids will be set and Kaye said he has no idea what the items will go for.

"It's unique items, so it's not like snap-on tools or something, where you know right away what it's going to go for, who's going to buy it," he said. "There's some man cave stuff here that I think is really cool."

Prospective buyers can preview the pieces in person starting at 2 p.m. Thursday. The auction starts at 7 p.m.
