The future of a Myrtle Beach area restaurant is uncertain. Here’s what we know
The future of a local restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area is unclear after rumors of its closing surfaced online.
Sam Snead’s Oak Grill and Tavern is a golf-themed restaurant located in Carolina Forest at 1004 Glenforest Rd, close to the Legends Golf Club. The American bar primarily sells flatbreads, burgers, steaks and seafood.
The franchise, named after famous golfer Sam Snead, also has locations in Florida, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia and in Canada, according to its website. The restaurant is decorated with golf memorabilia, which highlights the golf career of Snead.
A reader reached out to the Sun News on March 6 stating that the restaurant may be closing.
Pat Casey, president of the Pike Corp., the parent company, confirmed that the Myrtle Beach location had decided to withdraw its licensing. The reason was unclear.
Casey said he wasn’t sure what would happen to the location.
It’s also unclear whether the store will close or remain open.
A manager at Sam Snead’s said, “No comment,” when approached by a Sun News reporter last week and asked if the store would be closing.
The Horry County Business License division confirmed that the restaurant is still licensed with the county. The date for renewal is at the end of April.
