Dyson is known for its high-tech, air-centric hair tools, and on Thursday, the brand announced the latest addition to its lineup. Meet the Dyson Supersonic r, a blow-dryer that will be available exclusively to professional stylists starting in April.
Touted as the brand's lightest, smallest and most precise tool yet, the Supersonic r was developed to allow easily maneuverability and frizz-free, shiny results with minimal heat damage. It's also called the Supersonic r for a reason: The hair dryer is crafted into a distinct "r" curve, which was designed to offer stylists more control and comfort. The tool will retail for $570.
Along with the unveiling of the new dryer, Dyson also unveiled a brand-new technology called the Dyson Hyperdymium, a streamlined heater to evenly heat airflow, as well as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors that communicate with the hair dryer to adjust the motor and heater to provide optimal airflow and temperature.
Like many of Dyson's technologically advanced products, the hair-dryer comes with multiple attachments for a variety of styling needs. The Dyson Supersonic r includes a powerful air attachment to quickly dry hair, pro concentrator for precise airflow, gentle air attachment to reduce frizz and define curls, smoothing nozzle for de-tangling and a flyaway attachment.
"The Dyson Supersonic r Professional hair dryer builds on the technology and knowledge we have developed, offering fast drying and styling benefits for all hair types with no heat damage," Gavin Galligan, Dyson's senior design and development manager, said in a press release. "Our new streamlined heater technology developed for this machine is a world-first, combined with our high-speed motors enable the lightweight form factor, and fast precise airflow."
The tool will also be rolled out during the Fall 2024 runway shows in February, making appearances backstage across New York, London, Milan and Paris.
