“Game of Thrones ”Actor Kristian Nairn Announces New Memoir: ‘If It Helps One Person, It Was Worth It’ (Exclusive)
The actor and DJ’s debut book will hit shelves this fall
Kristian Nairn is more than just a fan-favorite character on Game of Thrones — he’s now an author as well.
The actor has exclusively announced with PEOPLE that his debut memoir is on its way. Beyond The Throne: Epic Journeys, Enduring Friendships and Surprising Tales will be published this fall by Hachette Books.
“I never planned to write a book. However, after being told a thousand times that I MUST tell my story, here we are,” Nairn says in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “I hope my silly words help bring home some who are lost.”
Best known for his role as Hodor in the Emmy-winning HBO series, Beyond The Throne shines the light on the person behind the character. Nairn was raised by a single mother in Ireland during the Troubles, a period of conflict in the country lasting from the late 1960s to the 1990s. He writes of his experience coming of age in Belfast and Lisburn, as a gay man looking for a sense of a community.
Eventually, Nairn realized his true calling as a performer — as a drag queen named Revvlon, a nightclub DJ and an actor.

“We are thrilled to publish the first memoir to go behind-the-scenes of Game of Thrones, but just as compelling is Kristian himself,” says Mary Ann Naples, VP and Publisher of Hachette Books in a statement. “His story is singular yet relatable, inspiring but harrowing, and loaded with good humor — not to mention dance music. The team at Hachette embraced it immediately.”
Game of Thrones fans will be delighted to read more about Nairn’s experience with the beloved series, whose finale aired in 2019, such as how he was initially reluctant to meet with the show's producers. Nairn will also delve into the bonds the actors developed on set and the impact of fame.
In addition to Game of Thrones, Nairn is known for his roles in movies such as Mythical: The Godslayer and The Appearance, as well as television shows like The Rookie and Our Flag Means Death. He also continues to make music, as he has for the past two decades, and has been dubbed as one of the most "prolific" house DJs in Ireland, according to a statement.

Nairn hopes that his memoir will reach an even larger audience — those who are also looking for a place to call their own.
“I see the early part of my life, as a child, trying to squeeze a round wooden block into a square hole,” he continues. “With time, I learned how to make myself fit into my own life and find my place in the world. If this book even helps one person, it was worth it.”
