Gas prices continue to rise across Saskatchewan

While oil prices may be plummeting, the price at the pump at Saskatchewan gas stations continues to rise.

According to GasBuddy.com, the majority of Regina gas stations are charging 93.9 cents per litre.

The average price for gas in Saskatoon is 94 cents per litre.

Dan McTeague, a senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy, said there's a chance it could soon cost even more to fill up.

"There could be a potential for an increase next week," McTeague said. "But, we're not there yet. We still have three trading days left. And we'll see where that brings us."

The national average for gas is $1.02 per litre.

Oil prices have fallen about 50 per cent in the last year, but some analysts say it will slowly increase this year.

"If the Canadian dollar doesn't show any sign of life and continues down this road of losing ground to the US greenback, the purchasing power of the loonie for gasoline — for oil and things like that — will suffer," McTeague said. "That means that the consumers may continue to pay a little bit more."

As of Wednesday morning, the cheapest place to buy gas in Saskatchewan was Moose Jaw's Safeway on 1st Avenue. The price? 85.9 cents a litre.
