Gas prices in Nova Scotia fall to below $1 for 1st time in months

The price of gasoline in Nova Scotia is down another 4.4 cents this morning, knocking the cost of a litre below a dollar for this first time in months.

As of Friday morning, a litre of regular is now a minimum of 98.7 cents.

The Utility and Review Board used its interrupter clause to drop gas prices five cents on Wednesday. The price of gas is adjusted every Friday, but the UARB has the power to step in early if there are dramatic changes in the wholesale prices.

Diesel is down about six cents and now sells for 90.6 cents per litre.

The last time gas dipped below the loonie mark was a spree between December and February.

Prior to that, a litre sold for well over a dollar for the past five years.

The price of oil has been sliding since the beginning of the summer after bouncing above $60 in June.
