Gas prices jump again with 2-cent bump at pump

For the third week in a row, Newfoundland and Labrador's fuels regulator has approved an increase in the cost of gas.

The Public Utilities Board allowed retailers to lift prices by as much as 2.1 cents per litre. Over the last three weeks, prices have increased by about 9.2 cents.

Thursday's weekly setting brings the maximum price on the Avalon Peninsula for a litre of self-serve unleaded gas to $1.453. Prices are generally higher across the province, although some retailers charge less to lure customers.

The PUB also increased the maximum price for diesel by 2.9 cents per litre.

Furnace and stove oil were both increased by 2.29 cents per litre, while propane for heating decreased by 2.2 cents per litre.
