Gender Sexuality Alliance Conference held in Summerside
Students from across Prince Edward Island are gathering at Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside Saturday for the province's second annual Gender Sexuality Alliance Conference.
The conference this year is called shOUTSTANDING and will have adults and students participating in a day of activities focused on issues in the LGBTQ community.
Included in the discussion is how to be a good ally.
Student organizer Lexi Norden hopes the day will provide much needed education to the community.
"You hear the stories about people getting disowned and stuff like that because of LGBTQ issues," she said. "I don't like the fact that sometimes people don't know why they do it, it's just because they were raised that way, so if people know more on it, it could stop."
Invitations for the conference were sent out to all junior and senior high schools on the Island.
