General Hospital characters wind up in 'crappy little' Halifax jail

A couple of major characters in the American soap opera General Hospital found themselves in "a crappy little jail" in Halifax in a recent episode.

The characters of Anna Devane and Robert Scorpio, played by actors Finola Hughes and Tristan Rogers, found themselves in Halifax to chase down a criminal. But they were arrested by Halifax police after being mistaken for wanted armed bank robbers.

In the episode, which aired on Tuesday, the characters wondered where they were before describing their accommodations as a "crappy little jail."

Two other characters who came to bail them out bemoaned the apparent bureaucracy in the city saying "There's a lot of red tape in Halifax."

The long-running ABC soap obviously did some research into Halifax police. An actor portraying an officer from Halifax Regional Police wore a logo on his uniform that was very similar to the real police logo.

The mention lit up Twitter with comments.

Halifax spotting has become popular online, with a number of video compilations on YouTube dedicated to Halifax mentions in pop culture.
