Genius Hack to Carry Baby Car Seat Goes Viral

Many people find it somewhat awkward to carry around a baby in a car seat, and either tend to lug the seat around using both hands, or position the handle in the crook of the arm, similar to the way you’d carry a handbag. Unfortunately, both options can lead to crippling back pain as well as unnecessary strain on the arms and hips. But as it turns out, there may be a much easier carrying position, and it won’t come at the expense of your back.

Dr. Emily Puente, from Bridge Family Chiropractic in Mansfield, Tex., posted the simple hack to Facebook about two months ago, and it’s since gone viral, with more than 4.4 million views.

Here’s how it works: First, loop one arm in through the handle (as if you’re about to cradle the handle in the crook of the arm), but then turn your hand (palm facing toward the floor) and grab under the bottom of the seat. That’s it!

“I guarantee you it will be easier for you to carry,” compared to carrying it in the crook of the arm, said Puente in the video, from late April. When you carry the seat by cradling the hook in the crook of the arm, you place strain on the upper back, shoulders and hips, making it more difficult to drag around while running errands.

But if you follow Puente’s hack, she says you’ll be able to distribute the weight from the carrier and carry it around more easily.

Will you be following this simple hack, or do you have one of your own?
