Father, meet son.

Just when we thought Baby Yoda had given all the cute he had to give, we got one more surprise on Thursday night. Suddenly, and without a caption, Jon Favreau—the executive producer of Disney+'s Star Wars show, The Mandalorian—tweeted and Instagrammed a picture of Star Wars creator George Lucas cradling the Baby Yoda puppet. Don't worry. Daddy's here.

Though, like any time an estranged father suddenly meets his son for the first time, the moment isn’t exactly Hallmark-perfect. The picture is fuzzy, George Lucas looks somewhere between surprised and sleepy, and Baby Yoda looks a little stoned. The woman in the background is clearly feeling everything, all feelings, every single one of them, really, looking like she’s peeping in on the Nativity scene.

Since Favreau didn't caption the picture, we can probably assume Baby Yoda met dad sometime during the filming of The Mandalorian (maybe even on the set of Season Two, which is shooting now), and Favreau busted up the meeting with his iPhone. Not to take away from the tender moment—keep feeling your feelings—but you have to ask why Lucas was on set. With The Mandalorian showing a knack for rotating directors, you have to wonder whether or not Lucas would want to return for a spot behind the camera, one more time.

Anyway, look upon this picture as you would Duccio's Madonna and Child. And when you're done, check out what Twitter had to say about it.
