After knocking off South Alabama 21-13 at home on Thursday at home, Georgia State has now won four of its last five games.
Panthers quarterback Conner Manning threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns. His second TD pass was a weird one. On third and goal from the USA 8-yard line, Manning managed to draw the Jaguars offsides with a hard count. The ball was snapped with the South Alabama defender across the line of scrimmage, so Manning tried for a touchdown knowing if the play didn’t work, there would be a five-yard penalty and another third down try.
Unless this was somehow part of the play design — it sort of seems like it may have been — Manning’s offensive linemen didn’t quite get the memo. Watch this:
That’s right. None of Manning’s linemen really got out of their stance and the Jaguars didn’t really seem to know what was going on. All the while, Manning rolled to his right and fired a touchdown pass to Penny Hart, who made a really nice catch to put the Panthers up 21-6.
The Panthers (4-3, 3-1 Sun Belt) started the season 0-2, but have won four of their last five games. South Alabama dropped to 3-5 (2-2).
