Gig Harbor crash sends driver to hospital after being extricated from flipped vehicle

The driver involved in a rollover accident Tuesday in Gig Harbor was later transported to the hospital after being extricated from the vehicle.

A car accident on Tuesday afternoon not far from Gig Harbor’s waterfront sent one person to the hospital after being extricated by emergency crews from the flipped vehicle.

Gig Harbor Fire Department crews were sent to the accident at the intersection of Pioneer Way and Judson Street just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to division chief and public information officer Thomas Wescott.

According to Wescott, the accident involved three vehicles, two of which were parked.

“The occupied vehicle did flip over, and our crews used extrication tools to remove the door and free the driver from the vehicle,” Wescott told The News Tribune in response to questions via email.

The driver was transported to the hospital, and the cause of the crash is under investigation. Further details were unavailable on Wednesday.
