I think I speak for many of us when I say it's a nice change of pace whenever a celebrity wears something affordable. Like, we get it: you make millions of dollars a year, but that doesn't mean a pair of shoes should cost $5,000.
Sneakers are one of those items that I particularly enjoy seeing at lower price points because, as an avid walker and destroyer of nice things, I tend to go through a lot of them. And while Kate Middleton's $75 Supergas are always a favourite, it's Gigi Hadid's Converse high-tops that I'm feeling for fall.
The model has been spotted wearing the $100 sneakers on repeat lately, and if you read reviews for the iconic basketball shoe, it's easy to understand why.
Dubbed Converse's "most iconic [shoes] ever," the Chuck Taylor high-tops are arguably one of the world's most recognizable sneakers.
Their high-profile design has remained cool throughout the decades, collecting fans like Kurt Cobain, John F. Kennedy, Beyonce and Gigi Hadid (among many, many others).
The unisex shoe is made from lightweight and durable canvas and features the classic All Star ankle patch. No matter your personal style, you're likely to find a sweet spot with Chuck Taylor high-tops as new colourways and patterns are constantly being released.
'Most comfortable shoes ever'
The high-top sneakers have racked up nearly 4,000 reviews on Converse and an average rating of 4.8 stars.
If you scroll through the retailer's comments section, the words "comfortable," "classic," "cute" and "stylish" can be spotted hundreds of times.
They're the "most comfortable shoes ever," raves one five-star reviewer. The fit is "absolutely perfect"—"[I'll] be a returning customer for life."
Another reviewer describes them as the "perfect basic" shoe. They "literally go with everything and you can dress [them] to [match] so many different vibes," they write.
Chuck Taylor high-tops are a "true classic," lauds a third reviewer. The shopper, who estimates they've owned "80 pairs" of Converse, says "they are always a comfortable fit and last a long time."
While negative reviews for the sneakers are few and far between, some shoppers note they run large, something to keep in mind if you're in between sizes.
