Gigi Hadid Handled a Wardrobe Malfunction During a Marc Jacobs Show Like the Pro She Is

After photos of Gigi Hadid walking the Marc Jacobs Spring 2020 runway barefoot emerged online, a lot of fans just assumed it was all part of the show. However, it turns out the supermodel suffered a last-minute wardrobe malfunction at the London Fashion Week show—but instead of letting it ruin her moment, she handled the whole situation with poise and professionalism. According to an Instagram post from stylist Katie Grand, who was working with Hadid and the other models for the show, both she and the 24-year-old supermodel literally had to think on her feet after one of Hadid's heels broke at a critical moment.

In her post, Grand explained that Hadid was actually wearing thigh-high silver socks and white mules when she first walked during the "first opening finale" of the show—until one of the shoes' heels broke.

“Since we were at the other end of the armoury, there wasn’t much we could do other than either fake an [unbroken] heel or rip off her socks and shoes and send her out barefoot, which we did, and [it] was all the more natural for it,” Grand wrote in her caption.

In Grand's video and in photos from the show, Hadid she can be seen walking totally barefoot but on the balls of her feet, essentially playing off the whole wardrobe malfunction by making it seem as though she was still wearing heels.

In her own Instagram post, Hadid also shared a series of videos and photos from the show—and she completely owned what happened, noting that “sometimes a lil wardrobe malfunction can lead to the magic moments.”

She also thanked Jacobs for letting her be a part of the event, writing, "Experiencing your creative ride is surreal, inspiring, and joyful. I am so grateful for time spent with you, and I will always cherish these memories.

"Being surrounded by so much genius is a wild honor!" Hadid added.

This isn’t the first time Hadid has had a wardrobe malfunction on the catwalk. In 2017, she lost a heel during the second half of Anna Sui’s New York Fashion Week show. Once again, however, she continued to walk the runway as if nothing went wrong.

It turns out her ballet classes came in handy after all—what a pro!
