If you have ever posted a picture on Instagram that you thought was going to be a hit and it got barely any likes, then you certainly know what Ginger Zee is going through.

ABC News’ chief meteorologist took to social media Friday with an offering and a plea to her followers. “Photos of my body, hair and legs get so many more comments than my important climate stories so HERE — here’s a photo I know will get the attention,” she wrote next to a photo of her in an orange dress, sitting on a step, with her legs exposed.

While the 39-year-old wrote that she always appreciates the engagement and interaction on any and all posts, she’d like people to really take in the message she’s trying to get across. “I will do whatever it takes for everyone to realize we need to make changes and clean-up our planet—NOW,” she said, urging followers to watch her recent #ItsNotTooLate episode to learn about the current climate crisis and pollution in Biscayne Bay in Miami, Fla.

Zee isn’t the first celebrity to use this approach to drive attention to causes that are important to them. In fact, this has been a recent trend employed by Kylie Jenner, Tess Holiday and even Chris Rock. Just this week, Lady Gaga shared a provocative selfie for National Boss’s Day to ask fans to share their voting plans.

Michael B. Jordan’s thirst trap had a similar call to action.

Zee’s not the first nor will she be the last to use sexy pics to drive attention to important causes — and while some critique the method, no one can argue that it isn’t effective.
