A 12-year-old girl was critically injured when she was thrown from an SUV in a crash near New Bothwell, Man., on Wednesday afternoon, RCMP say.
It appears the girl wasn't wearing a seatbelt, police said.
The crash is still being investigated but police believe a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the SUV, which had four occupants, including the girl.
She was taken to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition, police said.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The collision happened at the corner of Highway 206 and Road 39 N. in the rural municipality of Hanover.
St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP are investigating with help from an RCMP forensic collision reconstructionist, a release stated.
