An all-terrain vehicle crash Sunday afternoon, July 11, in Carlow, near Florenceville-Bristol, claimed the life of a 60-year-old Glassville man.

RCMP Staff Sgt. André Pepin said someone contacted police after finding an ATV and man on the side of a trail in Carlow, a small community between Florenceville-Bristol and Glassville. Pepin said RCMP officers responded around 3:40 p.m.

Florenceville-Bristol Fire Department Chief Andrew Cougle said he and his crew also responded.

Pepin said the preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred when the driver swerved the machine to avoid a deer. While noting the investigation remains under investigation, he said the accident does not appear suspicious.

The man, who RCMP did not identify, died at the scene.

Chief Cougle confirmed the coroner attended the accident scene.
