Glen Powell Goes Undercover as a Steamy Assassin for Hire in “Hit Man ”Teaser Trailer
Glen Powell co-wrote the movie, on Netflix June 7, with Richard Linklater
Glen Powell is a seductive faux assassin in the first teaser for Hit Man.
From director Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, Boyhood), the comedy stars Powell as a professor named Gary Johnson who "moonlights as a fake hit man for the New Orleans Police Department," according to a synopsis.
Johnson takes on various personalities and disguises while undercover as he aims to "catch hapless people hoping to bump off their enemies."
But, "Gary descends into morally dubious territory when he finds himself attracted to one of those potential criminals, a beautiful young woman named Madison," played by Adria Arjona (Morbius).

"As Madison falls for one of Gary’s hit man personas — the mysteriously sexy Ron — their steamy affair sets off a chain reaction of play acting, deception and escalating stakes."
Hit Man is inspired by a true story, as told in a Texas Monthly article from 2001.
"Hit Man is loosely based on a true-crime article I read almost 20 years ago in Texas Monthly," Linklater said in a statement. "The film is attempting to hit a lot of notes — comedy, noir, thriller, psychological study — while examining most of all the concept of identity and how fixed our personalities may or may not be."
Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You star Powell, 35, co-wrote the movie with Linklater, 63. The duo also worked together on 2016's Everybody Wants Some!! and 2022's Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood.
Hit Man is on Netflix June 7, with a limited theatrical release prior.
