Gogglebox is losing another famous face, as Chris Butland-Steed has quit the Channel 4 show.

Hairdresser Chris, who appears on the sofa with his former partner Stephen Webb in Hove, will not feature in the next series.

Chris, who has been a part of the show since its first series five years ago, is set to be replaced by Stephen's mother on the sofa.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said (via The Sun): "Chris has decided to pursue other opportunities but we want to thank him for his fantastic contributions across ten series."

Chris himself has confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: "I'd like to announce I've decided to leave Gogglebox and am looking forward to the exciting adventures that lay ahead!

"Huge thanks to @C4Gogglebox @Channel4 for the amazing experiences I've had & wish cast & crew well. Massive thanks to the fans for their support! #watchthisspace"

He accompanied the post with a longer note, in which he wishes Stephen and "Mummy Pat" all the best on the show and says he can't wait to watch them.

Another familiar face who may not be returning is June Bernicoff, whose husband and co-star Leon tragically passed away in December 2017.

She had confirmed that she wouldn't be back, but a new promotional image for the series features June at the front and centre.
