Gogglebox star Mary Killen has credited the programme with helping to keep her relationship with husband Giles Wood intact.

The pair have appeared on the programme since its fifth season aired in 2015 but Killen has said they rarely spent time together before that.

“Giles and I were like ships that pass in the night,” she told the Daily Star. “I got up early. He went to bed late. And we rarely even ate together.

“Sitting down and watching television reminded us how much we enjoyed the same jokes."

The couple met when they were 21, while Wood was studying at Wimbledon Art School and Killen was working as a model.

On the Channel 4, the Wiltshire couple are often seen affectionately referring to one another as "nutty", and Killen has revealed how the nickname came about.

"We both consider the other to be a bit mad,” she divulged.
