Due to the coronavirus pandemic – and the new restrictions forcing the nation to stay at home – the stars of Gogglebox are getting to watch even more TV than they usually do.

On tonight's episode (March 27) of the Channel 4 show, the professional armchair critics were even given their first taste of Disney+, as they were shown the opening episode of the Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian.

And as you might expect, the bounty hunter show set in a galaxy far, far away was all a bit alien to the uninitiated members of the Gogglebox team. But that didn't make their uniformed commentary any less painful.

As the well-renowned Stormtroopers made their first appearance in the episode, a number of Gogglebox stars instantly pointed them out, recognising them from, well, the numerous Star Wars films and TV shows in which they've featured.

That's not where Julie Malone recognised the evil Empire's soldiers from, though.

"Oh I saw them on The X Factor!" she exclaimed. Cut to a close-up of Tom Senior's bemused face.

Jules was referring to a group of dancing Stormtroopers, named Boogie Storm, who actually appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2016. Not The X Factor.

If that wasn't enough to nauseate the Star Wars fans watching at home, later on in the episode, a number of the Gogglebox cast incorrectly referred to Baby Yoda as a young version of the little green Jedi.

As everyone should know by now, The Mandalorian is set after the events of Return of the Jedi, so old Yoda is long dead.

If you listen carefully, you can hear millions of Star Wars fans crying out in terror.

Gogglebox airs on Channel 4.
