The Golden Bachelorette : Everything We Know About the Inaugural Season

We have our first ever Golden Bachelorette in Joan Vassos, and she has a fresh fleet of silver foxes ready to sweep her off her feet.

After 72-year-old Gerry Turner kicked off the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor in 2023, there was no question that we’d soon see a gender-swapped version of the Bachelor spinoff. In May, Vassos was tapped to lead the first season of The Golden Bachelorette after competing on Gerry’s season. Her bio at the time described her as “really something special”; she’d started a new career after losing her husband of 32 years to pancreatic cancer. She didn’t wind up winning Gerry’s final rose in the end, but we’d say becoming the first Golden Bachelorette is one heck of a consolation prize.

And now Glamour can exclusively premiere the first teaser trailer in which Kelsey Anderson (Joey Graziadei’s fiancé) introduces Joan to her dad, Mark, who will be competing on this season. When we spoke with Kelsey in March of this year, she told us she was trying to talk her dad into going on the show. (Kelsey’s mom—Mark’s wife—passed away in 2018 from an aggressive form of breast cancer.)

“I think that he’s open to the concept of it, especially seeing how happy Joey and I are together and how we would’ve never met otherwise,” Kelsey told us at the time. “Honestly, it would be a really great push for my dad to get him back into that space.”

It’s such a heartwarming and pure moment for the trio, as Joan exclaims how excited she is. The teaser also also features additional footage from the season, including a throwback prom, horse riding, ice skating, and of course, a helicopter ride. Take a look:

Who is Joan Vassos?

Bachelor audiences first met Vassos on Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor, but they didn’t have much time to get to know her. Vassos decided to leave the mansion after week three to help her daughter, who was dealing with postpartum depression, she explained on the Women Tell All special. Vassos wrote on Instagram at the time, “My journey to find love took a detour this week as I traded the mansion for motherhood and headed home to be with my family. Family comes first, period.”

Speaking of, her first grandchild calls her JoJo, and just tell us this is not the cutest promo you’ve ever seen in Bachelor Nation:

When does it premiere?

The Golden Bachelorette will premiere on September 18 on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu.

Jack is ready to treat Joan like the queen she is and wants to cook a five-star meal just for her. The father and grandfather loves making people laugh and is looking to find his travel partner for life. He went on a solo trip to Italy last year, and it made him realize that he truly wants someone to enjoy the world with. Jack is a big softie who just wants to tell his partner that he loves them every morning and every night before bed. He truly believes that love is within reach, and we hope he’s right!
