Golden Lake remains under flood warning

Golden Lake remains under flood warning

Residents near Golden Lake are still being warned to stay away from the flooded shores, according to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

Though the waters are slowly returning to normal, the ministry cautions that large amounts of rain and saturated banks could create strong currents, bacteria build-up and shoreline erosion.

Recreational boating on Golden Lake has been temporarily prohibited to help keep the sandbag walls intact.

The entirety of Renfrew County is still under a safety warning to stay away from the water, though the county is no longer under threat of flooding.

Individuals with flooded properties are urged to do a thorough clean-up as soon as the waters recede to prevent contamination.

Golden Lake is the last area in eastern Ontario to be under a flood warning. It has been lifted for the rest of the Ottawa area.
