A golden retriever in Texas is getting the viral sensation treatment after photos of his peculiar habit of hanging out on his owner’s roof hit social media.
An amused Twitter user posted a series of photos that show the sandy-coloured dog sitting and standing on the roof of a house in Austin. Another photo shows a framed poster featuring the dog with the title: “DON’T BE ALARMED!!!”
The owners left the following note for any passersby who might be alarmed to see a large dog walking around on the roof of a house:
“Huckleberry is living up to his name and learned how to jump onto our roof from the backyard. We never leave him in the backyard without someone being at home. He will not jump off unless you entice him with food or a ball! We appreciate your concern but please do not knock on the door…we know he’s up there. Please feel free to take pictures of him and share with the world. #huckthedoordog”
It didn’t take long for Huckleberry to become an Internet star and the canine even has his own Instagram account.
Twitter users didn’t hold back their enthusiasm for the daring dog and many just couldn’t resist the use of puns in this instance.

It turns out Huckleberry isn’t the only dog who prefers to spend his time on top of a roof. His photo helped uncover a secret society of canines who love to soak up the sun at a higher altitude.

For now, it seems like Huckleberry is the main attraction when it comes to dogs appearing on roofs. We just hope these dogs take cues from cats and learn how to land on their feet.
