The Good Fight spoilers follow.

As fans will know, The Good Fight season four was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, leaving the season's seventh episode as its unintended finale. With the season's final three episodes scrapped, series creators Robert and Michelle King have now revealed what they had to change when production was cut short.

The so-called finale, which dropped yesterday (May 28) in the US, failed to solve the mystery of Memo 618, but it did at least uncover the truth about the death of Jeffrey Epstein. (In The Good Fight's fictional universe, that is.)

The disgraced financier and convicted sex offender died by suicide in real life last year, although there has been suspicion surrounding his death ever since. In The Good Fight, however, it was confirmed that Epstein did take his own life.

Speaking to TVLine, the Kings explained how a pause in production affected the 'finale', admitting that footage intended for a later episode was edited into their conclusion.

"We had shot four days into episode eight when the plug got pulled," Robert said. "It wasn't enough material to do a [complete episode], but what we did have was [footage of] Julius Kane getting arrested."

"So that was one of three scenes from episode eight that we were able to edit into episode seven."

Fortunately, The Good Fight will be returning as soon as it can, with Robert and Michelle King reassuring viewers that they already know what story to tell when season five is able to kick off.

"It's been weird to not be able to finish the fourth season," the creators said in a statement earlier this month. "It left the story in even more absurd a place than usual.

"So we're thrilled that CBS All Access wants to bring The Good Fight back for an additional season, and we know what story we're planning to tell. It's like getting the answers to the SAT ahead of time."

The Good Fight airs on CBS All Access.
