SINGAPORE — Three ride-hailing firms in Singapore — Grab, Gojek and Tada — announced extensions of their temporary driver fee on Monday (25 July) in part due to rising fuel costs.

The trio will be extending the driver fee until the end of 2022.

Grab introduced a flat fee of S$0.50 per ride in April — and fuel discount schemes — to help its drivers defray higher operating costs. Trips on all its transport services, except the standard taxi service, are subjected to the fee.

A Grab spokesperson said, in response to media queries, that the additional amount will go fully to its drivers and will not be subject to the current commission rates.

Fees for Gojek and Tada

Gojek introduced its fee in March. Its driver fee is applied to all GoCar, GoCar XL, and GoCar Premium trips — GoTaxi trips are exempt.

For trips less than 10km, the driver fee is 50 cents; it is 80 cents for trips that go beyond 10km.

Gojek also said the full fee goes to its drivers and is not subjected to the company's prevailing commission rates.

Gojek added that customers can still use existing promotion codes and vouchers to help offset the driver fee.

For Tada, which introduced the driver's fee on 4 April, a S$0.50 flat fee is added to all rides with trip fares S$18 and below, while a S$0.80 flat fee is added to rides with trip fares S$18.10 and above.
