Graham says if Trump wants to run in 2024, he needs to shift focus from 2020 and 'focus on solving the problems Americans are living with'

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham says if former president Donald Trump decides to run in 2024, he needs to shift his focus from the previous election to the current interests of Americans.

During an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union, host Dana Bash asked Graham if he believes the 2020 election was stolen, adding, "Do you want Donald Trump, if he is looking ahead to 2024, to stop saying that?"

"I think we should look at election integrity measures to make sure some problems don't happen again," Graham responded Sunday.

"If he runs for president, talking about 2020 is not what people want to hear. He likes hearing it. But people want to hear about, how can you secure a broken border? How can you stop rampant crime?" he added. "What can you do to get the economy back on its feet? And how can you make us safer again? How can you stop Putin from going further? What would you do with China?"

At a rally in Wisconsin on Friday, Trump made statements that appeared to be campaign promises, as Insider reported, telling  his followers, "We are going to take back our magnificent White House." Since 2020, Trump has made claims without evidence that the election was fraudulent, allegations in which top conversations have previously debunked.

"I'm telling President Trump, if you want to be president again in 2024, focus on solving the problems Americans are living with," Graham said.
