The Grain Farmers of Ontario are accepting application for the Legacy Fund Scholarship, encouraging “the pursuit of higher education in any area of study that will benefit agriculture or agri-food and support(ing) the development of future leaders in these areas.”
In the news release announcing the fund, Chair of the Grain Farmers of Ontario Brendan Byrne said “we believe and value the importance of building, defending, and promoting an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable business environment that enables our agricultural community members the opportunity to prosper. Our core values are based on our commitment to elevate and support our community using every possible available resource that can help each individual succeed.”
Applicants are eligible if they are an Ontario resident, haven’t received a Grain Farmers of Ontario bursary yet, enrolled or soon to be enrolled in a full-time, accredited college or university program.
Ten scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded, with five of those permitted to be awarded to students pursuing non-agriculture specific studies.
Applicants are required to submit a resume and a 500-to-1,000-word essay explaining why they are applying and how they will benefit the future of agriculture.
To apply, email your application and supporting documents (all in one document) to firstname.lastname@example.org or go to gfo.ca/legacyscholarship.
The deadline to apply is Aug. 31.
