Grand Prairie police investigate Friday car crash that killed pedestrian
Gran Prairie police are investigating a crash in which a man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Grand Prairie early Friday morning, according to a news release.
Around 12 a.m. Friday, dispatchers received multiple calls about a person sitting in the roadway of the 4100 block of East Main Street. The person was subsequently struck by a motorist.
The pedestrian, an adult man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Based on witness accounts, investigators believe the pedestrian was in mental distress and sat in the roadway with the intent to be struck, police said in the release.
The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
No arrests were made.
The collision remains under investigation.
