A 99-year-old Dutch woman was all smiles while being escorted to jail in handcuffs after her family members sent in an unusual request to local authorities.

Officers at the Nijmegen Zuid police station outside of Amsterdam shared these photos on Facebook last Thursday showing a delighted senior citizen, known only as Annie, sitting inside one of their cells for inmates.

According to viral post, the elderly woman had never been arrested in all her years and one of the very last items on her bucket list was to “experience a police cell from within.”

The images show a happy woman sitting inside a jail cell with a beaming smile on her face. She was even given the opportunity to have a set of handcuffs fastened around her wrists, much to her obvious delight.

“A day to remember!” the translated police Facebook post reads.

Speaking to the BBC, a police officer explained how one of Annie’s nieces had approached their precinct to help fulfil her grandmother’s unconventional wish.

“You get many unusual requests with this profession,” the police officer said. “We thought it would be nice to do something special for Annie.”
