Grass fire near Saskatchewan Avenue keeps crews busy

Winnipeg fire crews were at the scene of a grass fire near Saskatchewan Avenue on Tuesday evening.

Winnipeg fire crews spent hours dealing with a grass fire near Saskatchewan Avenue and Sturgeon Road on Tuesday night.

Windy conditions and dry grass fueled the fire, which was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m.

It took about two hours for firefighters to contain the flames, according to officials.

Crews were still at the scene late Tuesday night to extinguish any remaining hotspots.
