Great Times On The Links Before The Season Closes

August and September are looking great at The Swan Hills Golf and Country Club (SHGCC), with upcoming tournaments and events and revised operating hours to serve you better over the summer. While the weather has been a bit cool and rainy lately, the forecast is calling for some great weekend golfing weather.

The golf course is now open from 12:00 – 9:00 PM on weekdays and from 10:00 – 9:00 PM on weekends.

The Swan Hills Junior Golf Tournament is rapidly approaching on Aug. 10. This tournament is open to golfers from 8 – 17 years old. The tournament organizers would like to get as many young golfers out on the course as possible, with a focus on sportsmanship, improving one’s game, and just having a great time. There will be prizes for most improved, best putting skills, best drive, closest to the pin and most patient. Some holes will also include fun games and prizes to change things up. Entry is $50 and includes lunch and a swag bag. Please come for 9:00 AM on Aug. 10 to complete your registration.

A little later in the month, the SHGCC will be hosting the Ladies Tournament on Aug. 27. The 18-hole tournament will be a 2 ball best ball format, where each member of a two-person team plays their own ball through each hole but chooses the better of the two scores to count for the team. Join in on the fun for $80/person, including breakfast and supper, with some great prizes up for grabs. Registration and breakfast will be at 9:00 AM, with a shotgun start at 10:00 AM.

More excitement is coming in September with the Mixed Four Ball Best Ball Golf Tournament on Sept. 17. Four-person teams will be playing a best ball format and competing for 1st place, 2nd place, Middle Score, and High Score. The tournament will also feature Calcutta draws and hidden hole prizes. Entry fees are $400/team and include both lunch and supper. Registration is 9:30 AM with an 11:00 start.

Night golf is making a comeback on Aug. 19 and Sept. 9! Take a walk on the wild side for $40/person, including a glow-in-the-dark golf ball to make things a little easier after the sun goes down. Registration is at 8:00 PM with a 9:00 PM start.

The summer is going by quickly, it’s less than a month until school starts, and then the season will be wrapping up before you know it. Be sure to get out to the Swan Hills Golf and Country Club and enjoy the summer before it’s over.
