When Queen Elizabeth marked 60 years on the throne in 2012, Canada minted 60,000 Diamond Jubilee Medals awarded to people from all walks all of life for their exceptional service. Now, as another jubilee approaches, there are calls to bestow the country's pandemic front-line workers with the royal recognition. But as David Akin explains, Ottawa has no plans for more medals.
