Guelph/Eramosa approves annexation of Dolime Quarry

·1 min read

The Township of Guelph/Eramosa has approved a boundary adjustment that will see the Dolime Quarry property transferred from the township to the City of Guelph.

Guelph/Eramosa formally signed off on the deal at Monday’s meeting, following a similar approval from the County of Wellington on June 25.

“It’s been a bit of a long road,” Mayor Chris White said following the vote, referencing the process of study, planning and negotiation to move the land into the City of Guelph which has now stretched on for 14 years.

By annexing the 230 acre property west of the Hanlon Expressway, the city hopes to protect both the quality and quantity of its water supply.

Guelph city council is expected to ratify its approval of the annexation at a meeting on July 19.

From there, it’s up to the province to make the final decision whether the property will change hands.
