Gun from Calgary recovered, 3 people arrested after raid in Elmwood

Police face probe after woman's collarbone broken in custody

Winnipeg police arrested three people after they recovered a stolen firearm and seized several ounces of cocaine and other drugs during a raid on Poplar Avenue.

Police from the tactical support team, organized crime unit and community support unit executed a search warrant at a home on Poplar Avenue near Roch Street on Wednesday.

They found a loaded .357 Magnum revolver, more than seven ounces of cocaine, more than two grams of crack cocaine, $685 in cash and other items used for drug trafficking, they said.

Police arrested two men who left the home, as well as a woman inside.

The gun was originally reported stolen in Calgary, but Winnipeg police couldn't say how the revolver ended up in the Elmwood home.

A 33-year-old man faces 13 firearms charges, as well as charges of trafficking cocaine, two counts of possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000, and multiple driving-related offences. He is being held in custody.

Another 33-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman also face charges of trafficking, possessing property obtained by crime and firearms-related charges.

They were released on a promise to appear in court.
