A man was stabbed and a gun fired during disorder in Birmingham on Saturday night, police say.

The 21-year-old knife victim later went to hospital, where he was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the disorder, which happened at the junction of Witton Road and Endicott Road in Aston.

The West Midlands force was called to the scene about 19:45 BST, but those involved had already moved on.

The suspect was detained for questioning after going to hospital to seek treatment to wounds "which were not serious", police said.

Investigators recovered evidence suggesting a gun had been discharged at the scene, the force added.

It is not currently aware of anyone else being injured in the disturbance.

Police patrols have been increased in the area to reassure the local community.
