After the Oscars, it finally happened: Hailey Bieber met Beyoncé. She started her night at the Vanity Fair after-party, then a few fetes later, she ended the night at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s exclusive celebration. “I couldn’t even believe I was in there,” she tells BAZAAR.com. “I was so honored to be there. I met Beyoncé for the first time, and I was just like ... she’s just so dope.”

No matter that Bieber (née Baldwin) is one of the hottest models of the moment, has almost 25 million Instagram followers, and is married to one of the biggest pop stars of the millennium—she was starstruck nonetheless.

“It doesn’t matter how many rooms of people I’ve been in before, and who I’ve met, or who I know,” she says, “these are still people that I’ve admired since I was a little kid. So the shock value of that and the admiration doesn’t ever go away, and I don’t think it ever will for me to be honest.”

While most of us mortals would be so stunned after a night that included meeting Beyoncé we’d probably face-plant straight into bed with full makeup and party apparel still intact, Bieber managed to diligently stick to her nightly skin care routine when she got home in the wee hours of the morning.

“I have never slept in makeup, even if I was drunk,” she proudly declares. “I’ve never slept in makeup. I always ended up taking it off some way, somehow. That was always my rule. Never, ever, ever.”

How does one become such a master of self-discipline? She offers an easy hack: “You can just get a hot rag, girl! Get it off!”

Bieber knows a thing or two about makeup and skin care as the clean beauty ambassador for bareMinerals. She was first introduced to the brand as a child watching her mother use its signature foundation powder; she began using the products herself as a teen. Her interest in cosmetics as a whole started at a young age, thanks to her grandmother who was a makeup artist. The skill proved to be especially useful during Bieber’s time as a young ballerina. “I did all my makeup for my shows, and I always did my friends’ makeup, and it’s something that I always really enjoy playing around with,” she recalls.

Bieber’s ballet days are over (“It really did a lot of wear and tear on my body,” she says), but the makeup obsession lives on. Today, she says bareMinerals makes up “about 95 percent” of her personal cosmetics collection—a given considering she’s the face of the brand. “It’s everywhere in my house,” she says. Her daily beauty routine includes the line’s Mineralist Hydra-Smoothing Lipstick, a vegan product that, as its moniker suggests, hydrates and smooths the lips. Though the product’s 25 bold shades like Courage, a classic red, and Willpower, a deep chocolate plum, are attractive selling points, Bieber points out the clean factor: Each is made with natural oil extracts and consists of 40 percent less ingredients than most lipsticks.

“We already have to worry so much about what the environment is doing to our skin, to our hair, to our face,” she says. “I know that there’s a lot of research that shows the effect it has on your aging just from pollutants and the environmental issues. So I think that we should be preventative and be just conscious of what we’re putting [on our skin].”

Skin health is just one part of Bieber’s overall regimen, which includes exercising—she enjoys Pilates, yoga, and barre—and being mindful of what she eats. “I’m definitely a big ingredients reader.”

As for her wind-down routine? “I’m a big bath person, so I like to do a bath and just chill with candles on and listen to a podcast,” she admits with a laugh. “I know it sounds so dorky. I’m so sorry.” She usually puts on an audiobook or a podcast from one of her favorites, Brené Brown or Joyce Meyer. And you can keep the scented bubbles and bath bombs; she prefers Epsom salt or oils in the tub.

Bieber doesn’t go out as much as she used to, although Oscar night was a big exception. “It was really fun,” she gushes. “I was out very, very, very late, [laughs] which I never do. I feel like I’ve moved on from that phase of life, kind of.”

Coming up, Bieber will be in Paris for Fashion Week festivities. You better believe that no matter how late she gets home, though, she will be taking her makeup off at the end of each night.
