Halifax police called to overnight home invasion, stabbing

Lake Banook search underway for missing swimmer

Halifax police were called to a pair of weapons complaints in the early morning hours of Saturday.

In the first, around 3 a.m., police say they received a call from a home on Seascape Lane in Herring Cove.

A number of people were in the home and police say a fight broke out. One adult male was stabbed by another adult male who then left the home.

The victim was taken to the QEII hospital for treatment of what police call non-life threatening injuries.

A suspect was arrested a short time later and is in custody while the investigation continues.

In the second incident, residents at a home in the 62-hundred block of Quinpool Road reported to police that around 4:10 a.m. three men entered the residence. One of them was carrying a firearm.

Police say there were five people in the residence and the suspects demanded their cell phones, money and a X-box.

Two of the men in the home were assaulted by one or more of the suspects, but police say no injuries were reported.

Police say the suspects are all young males. The one who was carrying the long gun is described as a black male about five foot 10 inches. The second suspect is described as a white male with white running shoes, also five foot 10 inches. The third suspect is described as a tall white male.

Police say all three were wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts.
