Halifax police identify shooting victim, rule death a homicide

Halifax police have identified the victim of a shooting early Saturday morning.

They say Simon Joseph Morrison, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene on Brunswick Street.

Police say the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.

Police say they do not believe the shooting was a random incident.

They say the investigation is being led by the force's special investigations section.

The 18-year-old's death is the third fatal shooting in Halifax in the last month.
