Happy Spring? Get ready for possible freezing rain, Toronto

Spring may have officially arrived this week but Toronto could get one more blast of wintry weather before the warm temperatures arrive.

A special weather statement is in effect for the city of Toronto and surrounding areas of Halton, Peel and York regions —calling for possible freezing rain overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.

Environment Canada says near zero-temperatures could cause bring "patchy" freezing rain, causing slippery roads and sidewalks.

But take heart. Temperatures are expected to climb back up past the freezing mark Sunday, reaching a high of 6 C.

Monday will bring double-digit temperatures with the mercury rising to a high of 14 C and the mild weather is expected to stick throughout the week.
