CBC Manitoba's Harvesting Hope raises $150K for Winnipeg Harvest

Harvesting Hope 2015: Music and stories support Winnipeg Harvest

CBC Manitoba's Harvesting Hope, a day of stories and live music, managed to help raise thousands of dollars for Winnipeg Harvest Friday.

As of 8 p.m., a total of $150,242 had been raised for the food bank, which has been feeding people in need for 30 years.

For more than 20 years, CBC Manitoba has been holding a special day of programming to raise money for food banks in the province.

Here are some of our stories profiling Winnipeg Harvest published earlier in the day Friday:

Live performances

CBC Radio One 89.3 FM / 990 AM hosted a series of special performances by local artists and told inspirational stories of hope on Information Radio, Radio Noon and Up to Speed Friday.

Information Radio kicked off with performances by Prodigy, the advanced singing group from Miles Macdonell Collegiate, and William Prince. Sweet Alibi appeared on Radio Noon between 12 and 1 p.m., while Up to Speed featured performances by Kelly Bado, Steve Bell and Slow Leaves in the afternoon.

Winnipeg Harvest is accepting donations all weekend long here.
