Hash and cigarettes among items seized by CBSA aboard N.L. vessels

Drugs, cigarettes and a gun silencer were seized after boats were searched by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in two different parts of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The CBSA announced Tuesday the seizure of approximately 450 grams of suspected hash, 35 cartons of cigarettes, drug paraphernalia, a small amount of suspected marijuana and a firearm silencer.

The items were found during the search of three vessels in Bay Roberts and St. Anthony.

The searches, the CBSA said, began on Nov. 13 and continued until the early morning of Nov. 14, and involved the RCMP.

Meanwhile, two crew members were arrested and released after small amounts of hash were discovered in their cabins.

The investigation continues.
