Head-on collision kills driver, injures two on Highway 132 east of Waterford, CHP reports

A driver died and two people were injured in a head-on collision on Highway 132 east of Waterford, the California Highway Patrol.

A news release said it happened about 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, in the area of Rushing Road. The man who died has not yet been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.

The CHP said he was driving east in a 2005 Saturn sedan and crossed illegally over double yellow lines to pass other vehicles. The car collided with a westbound 2007 Nissan pickup truck driven by Miguel Hernandez, 33, of Modesto, the release said.

Hernandez was treated for moderate injuries at Doctors Medical Center, the CHP said. His passenger, who was not identified, went to Memorial Medical Center with major injuries, the release said.

It said officers still are investigating whether the Saturn driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs, but they determined that the pickup driver was not.
