Head-on collision near Black Diamond leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

A woman in her mid-30s is dead after a head-on collision with a minivan on Highway 7 and 112 Street, just east of Black Diamond on Saturday.

RCMP said they received calls of a car swerving into incoming traffic minutes before the fatal collision involving that same vehicle.

The driver of the car was declared dead at the scene.

Three people were in the minivan that was hit, said police. After being pulled from the wreck, the driver, a man in his 70s, was flown by air ambulance to Foothills Hospital in serious condition with pelvis and leg injuries, according to Alberta Health Services.

The two passengers in the minivan, a woman in her mid-50s and a woman in her early 30s, were taken to hospital in stable condition with minor soft-tissue damage, said Alberta Health Services.

RCMP are investigating the collision.
