Hello darkness: This will be Toronto's last 5 p.m. sunset until 2025

As if the time change wasn't already enough to adjust to, Toronto now heads for the long, dark days of winter, with afternoon sunsets upon us.

After November 7, the 5 p.m. sunsets are over.

DON'T MISS: Solar winter is here, and for some people, that can be depressing

"Sunrise and set times will keep dropping until we reach the darkest day, the winter solstice on Dec 21," says Rachel Modestino, a meteorologist at The Weather Network. "It won't be until January 10, 2025, that we see the sun set after 5 p.m. again."

It's not all bad news however, as this weekend across southern Ontario will defy its gloomy November reputation. High pressure will dominate the region on Friday and Saturday, providing plenty of opportunity for abundant daytime sunshine -- something pretty rare through the month of November.

By Sunday, some limited sunshine is possible early in the day, especially to the east of Toronto, but we will see increasing clouds throughout the day. Temperatures however, will still remain a few degrees above seasonal.

Mild and pleasant conditions will continue to dominate during early and mid next week, with above seasonal temperatures remaining locked in place through the mid-month mark.

Be sure to take advantage of the warmer November weather and sunny days whenever possible, especially since we're only getting darker, and colder, from here on out.
