Hello winter: 5-10 cm of snow on the way to parts of southern Sask.

If you live in the southern half of Saskatchewan, it's time to dust off your shovel. A storm system to the south is expected to bring 5-10 centimetres of snow between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Some communities in eastern Saskatchewan have already seen the first flakes fall this year, but Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement as the province prepares for the first big accumulation this season.

The agency said we can expect rain on Tuesday morning, which will gradually shift to snow and continue into Wednesday afternoon. It said the track of the storm is still uncertain and the type and amount of precipitation could vary as temperatures hover near the zero degree mark.

- Carlyle - Oxbow - Carnduff - Bienfait - Stoughton

- Kamsack - Canora - Preeceville

- Humboldt - Wynyard - Wadena - Lanigan - Foam Lake
