High school graduation is a family affair for septuplets in Iowa

Watching a child graduate high school is a proud moment for any parent, but perhaps more so for Bobbi and Kenny McCaughey who got to see their seven children accept their high school diplomas from Carlisle High School in Iowa. The McCaughey kids have beein in the headlines since their birth in 1997 as the world’s first surviving set of septuplets.

Not only did all seven graduate, but the brainy brood has been offered full scholarships to Hannibal-LeGrange University in Missouri.

“After I graduate, I’m hoping to attend Hannibal-LaGrange University. It’s down in Hannibal, Missouri, and I want to look into elementary education and specifically be a pre-school teacher,” Natalie, who along with her sister Alexis graduated with Honours, told KCCI.

Not all of the McCaughey children plan on attending college, making it the first time the siblings will be apart, but they know they will remain close.

“We consider us as best friends, not as brothers and sisters, and I’m really blessed that we’ve gotten to that point,” said Alexis.

Kenny Jr. plans to enter the construction trade, while Kelsey has vocalized an interest in the music industry. Brandon has enlisted in the Army and looks forward to a career in the military.
