High winds prompt flood watch for Windsor region shorelines

Strong winds increase risk of flooding in Southwestern Ontario

Steady rainfall and high winds in the Windsor region has prompted a flood watch Thursday afternoon. 

The Essex Region Conservation authority is warning of possible flooding or damaging waves along shorelines of Lake St. Clair shorelines, including Tecumseh and Lakeshore, and Lake Erie shorelines on Pelee Island.

Winds are expected to reach from 30 to 50 km/h with wind gusts possibly hitting 70 km/h.

The advisory is in place until 5 p.m. Friday.
